Share Our Strength’s Shopping Matters program helps more families make healthy and affordable choices at the supermarket. Share our Strength is offering mini-grants to run Shopping Matters programs for adults and/or WIC parents.

Women’s Health Conference Support (pdf) – Deadline October 31st

This funding opportunity from DHHS’ Office of Women’s Health provides partial support for women’s health conferences and webinars held before September 2012 that address issues impacting the health and well-being of women and girls.  Funding is available up to $5,000 for a local meeting or $10,000 for a regional conference, and $2,500 for a webinar.

Call for Applications: 2011 Safe Routes to School Award – Deadline October 26th
The annual Award recognizes a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program for outstanding achievement in improving the health and well-being of an entire generation of school children.

Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program – Deadline November 17th

This funding opportunity from the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture provides funding to private, non-profit entities to support the following types of projects:

1)      the development of Community Food Projects with a one-time infusion of federal dollars to make such projects self-sustaining

2)      Planning Projects to assess the food security needs and plan long-term solutions to help ensure food security in communities

3)      a project that provides Training and Capacity Building on a nationwide basis to entities interested in developing new Community Food Projects or assisting current grantees and others to effectively operate their food security projects
