Webinar: Going Beyond TRL: Emerging Tobacco Retailer Policies, November 8, 2010 10:30 am – noon Pacific

This webinar will detail the benefits and policy considerations of many emerging policy options that can be “plugged-in” to a basic tobacco retailer licensing ordinance. These policy options include prohibiting sales of tobacco products near schools, restricting the individual sale of little cigars and cigarillos, limiting licenses based on density and several others. (This webinar is designed for those working within California, but all are welcome to attend).

Webinar: Smoking Cessation: Updates in Research and Practice, January 26 2012, 10:00 AM Pacific

This webcast will review the Healthy People 2020 tobacco cessation promotion objectives and framework for action to reduce tobacco use. An overview of the evidence-based practices from the 2008 U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guidelines, and new 2012 inpatient Joint Commission tobacco treatment measures, will be reviewed. Discussion will also focus on health care disparities and smoking trends, and the impact of the health consequences of involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke.  All practitioners will benefit from the patient information that will be presented on tobacco cessation strategies of medication and behavioral counseling.
