Tobacco — January 13, 2012

The University of California Office of the President has announced that all UC campuses and medical centers must be tobacco-free by 2014.  The new policies will include all tobacco products and unregulated nicotine products.  The policy also prohibits the sale an advertising of tobacco products on any UC-owned property.  Read more at the Daily Californian.

The study, published Monday in the journal Tobacco Control, included nearly 800 people trying to quit smoking over a period of several years, and is likely to inflame a long-running debate about the value of nicotine alternatives.
