Webinar: Promoting Health after Gestational Diabetes – May 14th at 10:00 AM (pacific)
This webinar, provided by the National Diabetes Education Program, will discuss the lifelong health risks for women with a history of gestational diabetes, the health risks to a child of a pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes, and steps mothers can take to help lower these risks for themselves and their children.

Webinar: Practical Application of the New Joint Commission Tobacco Standards – Revenue and Clinical Opportunities for Tobacco Specialists and Hospital Administrators – May 14th at 10:00 AM (pacific)
This webinar will provide a brief overview of the Joint Commission’s new tobacco Core Measures, and help attendees understand the potential clinical benefits both specific to hospitals (e.g. reduced readmission, reduced surgical and procedural complication rates) and other beneficial outcomes. Speakers will discuss the potential revenue sources (billing) for hospitals and how the standards are an opportunity for positive return on investment.

Public Health Law and Ethics Course – June 18th – July 12th, 2012
The University of Vermont is offering a 3-hour online course examining the government’s authority, at various jurisdictional levels, to improve the health of the general population.  The course is open to continuing education students and professionals with instructor permission (email Willam.Wargo@uvm.edu) for more information.

Online Training: Smoking Cessation for Pregnancy and Beyond: A Virtual Clinic
Dartmouth Medical School in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the CDC have released an updated interactive web-based training, designed for health care professionals to enhance their skills in assisting pregnant women to quit smoking.  The training is $25 per user, with continuing education credits available.
