Training Opportunities – August 24, 2012

On Friday, August 24 from 10-11 AM (Pacific), the American Public Health Association and CDC will host a webinar:When Every Drop Counts: The Public Health Implications of Drought. This is the first in a four-part series “Drought: When Every Drop Counts”. The occurrence of drought-related health impacts is challenging many communities for the first time. This webinar will provide information about the preconditions leading up to the current drought situation, discuss the significant overarching public health issues related to drought, and highlight some of these impacts, focusing on several American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

On Tuesday, August 28 from12-1 PM (Pacific), the National Native Network will host a webinar Did you really say Data Party? Interactive Strategies to make Tobacco Program Evaluation Relevant, Useful (and Fun!) describing the unique features of policy and advocacy evaluation, covering techniques to engage stakeholders in using data for reflection and providing a structured method for communicating key results through story telling.

On Thursday, August 30 from 11 AM -12 PM, Insight Information will host a webinar “The Vital, Emerging Role of Technology for Achieving Collective Impact”, which will discuss how to achieve significant, large-scale change through the aligned collaboration of many different organizations.

On Thursday, October 15 from 10-11 AM, the Ellyn Satter Institute will host the webinar:  A county-wide obesity prevention strategy: Speaking with one voice about behavior change when adults hear a consistent message from numerous sources and formats.

The Aiming for Equities: From Promise to Practice conference will be held November 1, 2012 from 12:00-3:00 PM at the Tiffany Center in Portland. Join the Oregon Primary Care Association and the Community Health Advocates of Oregon for a timely conversation about how Coordinated Care Organizations can truly achieve health equity for all.

The Agricultural Marketing Service Fruit and Vegetable Program invites you to take part in a series of free, interactive webinars on their many programs and services. At each webinar, you’ll hear a presentation from a USDA expert on a specific topic, be introduced to staff, and take part in an interactive question and answer session.

These informative webinars are designed for fruit and vegetable growers, packers, shippers, processors, wholesalers and retailers of all sizes.
