On August 14 from 11- noon (pacific) and August 15 from 1-2 PM (pacific), the USDA Food and Nutrition Services will host the same webinar to introduce the 2012 Back to School campaign, The School Day Just Got Healthier. The webinars will include an overview of the resources available to help get the word out and build support for healthy eating in schools.
On August 16 from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM (Pacific), the American Public Health Association will host the webinar The Power of Policy: Data-Driven Policy Strategies to Improve Community Health. The webinar will provide an overview on case studies examining how health departments engage in effective policy work and highlight promising practices for public health policy development.
On August 16 from 10-11 AM (Pacific), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will host the webinar Are Our Neighborhoods Making Us Sick? The webinar will cover: what the link between substandard housing, dis-invested neighborhoods and health is —and how community development and housing sectors contribute to better health outcomes for low-income people, as well as how health philanthropy is supporting community health improvement initiatives
On September 12 from 10-11:30 AM (Pacific), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will host the webinar Worksite Health 101. CDC will discuss the worksite health assessment process, reasons employers should collect data, the types of data used in worksite health promotion planning, and the uses for specific assessment data collection instruments for worksite health.
On October 5, the American Diabetes Association will hold the Annual Diabetes Practice Update at the Oregon Convention Center. This education activity is designed for health professionals with an interest in diabetes management issues.
On October 24-26th, the Annual Oregon Rural Health Conference will be held at the Salishan Resort in Gleneden Beach. This conference is the largest gathering in Oregon dedicated to the important issues of rural health care.
