On October 16 from 1-2:30, the Oregon Health Authority’s Health Impact Assessment (HIA) Program will host an HIA 101 webinar The webinar will cover what HIA is, a little bit about how to conduct an HIA, with an Oregon case study. Counties considering applying for an HIA grant are strongly encouraged to attend (all counties must have attended an HIA training to be eligible for funding).

On October 23 from 10 – 11:30 am, the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center will host the webinar, “Tobacco-Free State Psychiatric Hospitals: From Policy to Practice”. Webinar attendees will learn the methods and results of a survey on smoking policies and practices in state psychiatric hospitals; understand key findings and their applications to tobacco dependence interventions in psychiatric settings; and learn how the study may inform development of more effective smoking cessation policies and practices for people living with mental illnesses.
On October 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the Oregon Public Health Division, Center for Prevention and Health Promotion will host a webinar on The Weight of the Nation Shorts Toolkit, which incorporates bonus shorts from the Weight of the Nation. This can be used by local county health agencies and community partners to engage communities and partners around obesity prevention strategies. This webinar will showcase the toolkit and present ideas for hosting a screening as a forum for communication and collaboration. The toolkit features three sections: one focusing on environmental change; one on the life course approach to preventing obesity, and the last on the role of genetics and stigma around obesity. The toolkit includes key data points, core messages, definitions, and resources as well as a suggestion for which bonus shorts to show, and suggested discussion questions.
