Deadline to apply July 1, 2013
In partnership with Equity Foundation, Portland Latino Gay Pride (PLGP) will award a one-thousand dollar scholarship to a deserving student. Established in 2012, by the Portland Latino Gay Pride Board of Directors, the PLGP Scholarship is the only scholarship at Equity Foundation to focus on the Latino/a community.
With a preference placed on Latino/a candidates, students who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT), or are the children of GLBT parents, who reside in Oregon or Clark County Washington, and need financial assistance to attain their post-secondary educational goals are encouraged to apply.
For the past eight years PLGP has brought community together to recognize the contributions and celebrate the history of the Latino/a LGBTQ Community. This year’s events are scheduled for July 20 & 21 and will celebrate the theme ¡Viva la Vida! Funds raised at these events go towards the PLPG Scholarship award and PLGP’s annual contribution to the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber’s Scholarship Program.

MARKETPLACE NAVIGATORS: FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT
On April 9, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the availability of grants to support certain entities in becoming Marketplace Navigators— official resources of consumer information and assistance regarding new public and private coverage options under the ACA. Up to $54 million is available for one-year grants, financed through the Prevention and Public Health Fund.
These grants will be available for Navigators in states that have opted for state-federal partnership or federally-facilitated marketplaces (exchanges). States that are establishing their own marketplaces should create their own Navigator programs. Letters of Intent, which are strongly encouraged but not required, are due May 1. Grant proposals are due June 7, and awards will be announced in mid-August. CMS will provide online training for grantees. For more information, visit www.grants.gov and search for CFDA # 93.750. CMS is also hosting an informational conference call on Wednesday, April 24 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. ET (1-877-267-1577, ID# 8100).
